Oil & Propane Burner Technician

Oil & Propane Service Technicians are responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of residential and commercial heating systems.

Job Description

  • Maintains customer’s oil burners, boilers, furnaces and associated controls.

  • Perform necessary service on customer’s heating equipment related to emergency call of “no heat”, smoke, no hot water, oil leaks, etc. These calls are performed as daily duties and on call situations.

  • Perform annual tune –ups of heating equipment. This includes, at a minimum vacuuming of the furnace or boiler, changing oil filters, flushing oil lines, cleaning pump strainers, changing nozzles and performing a combustion test.

  • Check or investigate new or old burner systems for proper operation and repair.

  • Maintain necessary parts inventory in technicians’ service van.

  • Keep service van clean. Notify supervisor of any mechanical problems related to the vehicle.

  • Willing to perform other duties as requested by supervisor.

  • Good communication skills with customers, fellow technicians and management.

  • Position requires bending, kneeling, lifting heavy objects, driving, climbing stairs and standing for long periods of time.

  • Good attitude.

  • Ability to work from verbal and or written instructions.

  • Must be willing to work in excess of 40 hours a week and recognizes that working conditions may be somewhat uncomfortable at times

  • Basic Language and Mathematical Skills required.

  • Compensation Dependent on skill and ability

 

Qualifications

 

  • Minimum 3 Years Experience

  • Must Have a Valid NYS Drivers License
